Lunchtime Organ Concert: St John the Baptist, Cardiff

Paul returns to play his third lunchtime concert on the beautiful Father Willis organ in Cardiff City Centre.

Paul Carr is based in Birmingham as an organist, recitalist, choral director, accompanist and teacher. He studied with Dr Roy Massey MBE at Hereford Cathedral and is a graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where he studied with Professor David Saint and was later awarded Honorary Membership.

He performs organ concerts across the UK and has performed in Germany and France, including two recitals at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, and in the USA in Chicago, New York and Washington DC. As soloist and choral accompanist, he has toured with choirs across Europe. Since before graduating Paul has played monthly organ recitals in the Midlands, now totalling over 300. He is Artistic Director to the Thursday Live organ recital series in St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham.

Paul’s recent engagements include recitals in Westminster Abbey, St Sebastian Magdeburg, St David’s Hall Cardiff, Victoria Hall Hanley and cathedrals in Lichfield, Hereford, Bristol and Leeds. As liturgical organist he is Musician in Residence at Holy Trinity Wordsley and Organist to St Bartholomew’s Church in Penn. He is Musical Director of Selly Park Singers and works frequently with The Open University, The Birmingham Bach Choir, Priory Voices and Dudley Performing Arts. 

For thirteen years Paul was Director of Music at St Paul’s, Birmingham. He is a Past President of Birmingham Organists’ Association and serves on the committees of Worcestershire Organists’ Association and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Association.
